Reporting Plagiarized Stories
We take these seriously! Plagiarism will not be tolerated. If you report something to the staff that you feel an author has plagiarized a story - please be more specific than a simply 'this is not the authors story'. IT is a big deal and you have to be absolutely sure what you are reporting is accurate. Otherwise, you would have waisted your time and ours.
Be specific and if you can, provide the proof, if you see it on fanfic.net or another site, tell us so we can look into it.

Apparently this is always going to bear repeating...
If you have a multiple chapter story...we only ask that you...
SUBMIT YOUR CHAPTERS ONE AT A TIME! WAIT UNTIL THE ONE YOU SUBMITTED IS ACCEPTED ON THE SITE!!
Clearly nobody is reading the rules/guidelines for this site.
Not only does it waste OUR time going through each submission in the queue to find out which one was submitted first, but we ALSO have to go through and DELETE all the other chapters if the first chapter DOES NOT meet the guidelines - and that is also a waste of YOUR time because you have to do it all over again.
PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Only submit one chapter at time. Trust me, it'll save you and us the time and frustration.
Next time, I will send out emails to the person who keeps breaking this rule.

REPOST: Categories - VERY IMPORTANT
This is the SIXTH time we've had to post this in the news blurb because it's becoming an issue yet again.
This is very important! When you submit your stories to the archives, you can select more than one category. This can be a great thing, or a horrible thing, depending on how you use it.
You CAN NOT have a fic that is in "general" and "alternate reality" because the story is either an AU fic or it is NOT. You can't have a fic that is a "songfic" and a "general" fic because it is either a songfic or it is NOT. You CAN NOT have a fic in the "crossovers" and the "general" categories because a fic is either a crossover or it is NOT. Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. The general category is ONLY for stories that aren't in OTHER categories.
You CAN have a story that is both "alternate reality" and "songfic" or "alternate reality" and "drabble" ect. When you submit your categories for your stories please put some thought into it. Submit to the CORRECT category/ies. By not submitting to the CORRECT category/ies you are doing the archives a GREAT DISSERVICE and it messes up the whole flow of the website. Please contact any of the SMFFQCC if you have questions about this so we can all be clear and on the same page.
I am reposting this because it is once again becoming a big problem with all the incoming submissions. So this is a reminder for all you that have been here forever and a notice for all you new authors coming in.

Attention: If you have a multiple chapter story to submit, PLEASE submit ONLY the first chapter until it has been APPROVED. It really takes a lot of time to go through every chapter and if the first one does not meet the guidelines than neither do the other chapters and you will have to do the same process all over again. So from now on, ALL chapter stories must have the first chapter submitted and APPROVED before submitting more.
Can't stress this rule enough. Please wait until your first chapter is ACCEPTED before submitting more to the story. You would have really wasted time submitting all those chapters if your first chapter isn't approved.

Ideas and/or Suggestions
I thought I would throw the idea out to all of you. I know the quote challenge was a little long and probably a little difficult, so how about this, why don't someone give me suggestions on simple drabble challenges.
what would you like to see? what would you like to write and particpate in? Perhaps we can just try and work our way up to difficult challenges, but until then, we'll start off simple.
Any comments or suggestions? I'm all ears!

Write a Picture Challenge Part 2
All right, here is part 2 of the Write a Picture challenge, with a different photo all together. This one is a bigger picture with more characters in it.
What is this challenge?
This Challenge is where you look at the picture and write a story that evolves around that picture.
Do I have to use the picture you have posted?
Yes. You may not use any other picture for this challenge.
Can I submit a story that I have already written?
No. It has to be a new story evolving this picture.
How long do I have to finish it?
You have no time limit, this challenge will always be open.
How long must it be?
Minimum of 100 words. It can be a simple drabble, but must evolve the picture. No chapter stories, only one shots.
May I use my story somewhere else?
It's your story, you may do what you want with it,
How do you want me to submit it?
This is the format I want used:
May I submit more than once?
I will allow it, but it has to be completely different from what you wrote. Don't write the same thing and do it differently.
And now here is your picture:
Yes! A group photo. You can pick a character or write about all of them, the story just has to evolve around this picture. If you have any questions don't hesitate to email me and ask.
DO NOT post a review asking a question.

Members! When you are submitting a story whether it be one shot or chapter story, unless you ACTUALLY expect other members to make a response to your story, DO NOT check the ROUND ROBIN box. It confuses some of the staff members as to why a regular story is wanting responses to other than reviews.
Unless you are issuing a challenge, please do not check the round robin box.

Famous Quote Challenge
There is less than three months left before this challenge is closed and only FOUR people have entered it.
Deadline is August 1. I hope to see more people respond.

Please refrain from copying and pasting part of your fanfic into the summary box. This is redundant for readers. The summary should be short and to the point. It should let the readers know what your story is about. Thank you.

Article on Dialogue
We now have an article on dialogue that covers the common mistakes that we see again and again. It covers puncuation, capitlization, and dialogue with mulitple characters. It's a handy and quick writer's guide. We hope you find it helpful ^_^

Just a reminder: The general category is only for fanfics that do not fit into any other category.
For example, if a fanfic fits into contest and challenges then it cannot also go into general.
