Write a Picture Challenge
All right, this time I have decided that this challenge will not have a time frame and WILL ALWAYS be open. This is a new challenge. Here's how Write a Picture goes...
I will have a picture posted and it is up to you to think of a story evolved around that picture. One shot only. 100 to at least 1,000 words, the longer the better, but the minimum is 100. It can be a simple drabble but it must evolve around the picture that is posted.
FAQ:
What is this challenge?
This Challenge is where you look at the picture and write a story that evolves around that picture.
DoI have to use the picture you have posted?
Yes. You may not use any other picture for this challenge.
Can I submit a story that I have already written?
No. It has to be a new story evolving this picture.
How long do I have to finish it?
You have no time limit, this challenge will always be open.
How long must it be?
Minimum of 100 words. It can be a simple drabble, but must evolve the picture. No chapter stories, only one shots.
May I use my story somewhere else?
It's your story, you may do what you want with it,
How do you want me to submit it?
This is the format I want used:
Title:
Author:
Picture: In this case, it will be a picture of manga usagi and mamoru
May I submit more than once?
I will allow it, but it has to be completely different from what you wrote. Don't write the same thing and do it differently.
Rule/guidelines still apply to this challenge, aside from it having to be eight hundred words or more I will let slide, if it is a drabble. Anyway, here is your challenge photo:
Write a Picture
Since this is technically two photos into one, you may have the choice of evolving only Usagi, or only Mamoru, or you may use the whole photo with both of them. There sets the challenge, if you have any questions just email me. DO NOT leave a review asking a question, I won't get it. Good luck!! And I can't wait to see the results!!

An Idea
I was thinking of something to liven up this place. I know that we do monthly challenges, but I was thinking of like a real extended challenge? There is no ending to it and as many authors can perticipate as they want.
We can possibly do the same thing with drabbles or something like that. While I think of something, how about the rest of you? What would you mind doing besides drabbles? Give me some suggestions.
Thanks!

Hosting Donations
Hey everybody,
Well...it's come to this. I never wanted to do this, but I'm being forced. I'm currently broke. Bad broke...and as some of you are already aware ever since a few months back, my hosting company has been criminally exorbitant with my hosting fees. $90+/month for all my fansites - of which I don't make any money off of and pay for out of my own pocket. My business has been helping with paying for it, but it can't support the hosting completely at my current high rate and on a personal level I'm broke. So I've added a hosting donations button - so if you're so inclined to help me keep the site online until I can work out a cheaper hosting option and get us moved to a new server that would help out a lot.
The money goes directly to my hosting company, so I can't touch it for personal means. I've set it where you can donate however much you want, but know that it's run by paypal and they take out 5% + .30 cents for every donation.
Anyhow, thanks in advance for any of you that help out and support the fansites financially until I can get on my feet and get moved to somewhere more affordable!

IMPORTANT REPOST: Your Email Address and You
Did you submit something only to have it disappear?
Important Reminders:
This website is QUALITY CONTROLLED. This means that when you submit something to the archives, someone looks at it and either approves it or declines it. It will NOT show up on the archives until it has been approved by a member of the SMFFQCC.
Due to reminder number one, having a proper working email address is imperative. Those who are found otherwise might find their account locked or deleted. We need to be able to contact you, especially if you've submitted something.
What is does "proper working email address" mean?
-It must be valid (ie actually exist)
-It must not have exceeded its quota or be too full to accept new messages
Additionally I recommend that if you feel it necessary to only allow in emails from people on a safe list (Earthlink is notorious for this), then be warned that you will not be getting messages and/or really annoying the SMFFQCC. If you annoy us a lot with submissions that have NO CHANGES, we might just suspend your account.
The current site email is SMFFQCC@smfanfiction.net, so you should add that to your safe lists to avoid emails being put in a spam folder.

REPOST: Categories - VERY IMPORTANT
This is the FOURTH time I've had to post this in the news blurb because it's becoming an issue yet again.
This is very important! When you submit your stories to the archives, you can select more than one category. This can be a great thing, or a horrible thing, depending on how you use it.
You CAN NOT have a fic that is in "general" and "alternate reality" because the story is either an AU fic or it is NOT. You can't have a fic that is a "songfic" and a "general" fic because it is either a songfic or it is NOT. You CAN NOT have a fic in the "crossovers" and the "general" categories because a fic is either a crossover or it is NOT. Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. The general category is ONLY for stories that aren't in OTHER categories.
You CAN have a story that is both "alternate reality" and "songfic" or "alternate reality" and "drabble" ect. When you submit your categories for your stories please put some thought into it. Submit to the CORRECT category/ies. By not submitting to the CORRECT category/ies you are doing the archives a GREAT DISSERVICE and it messes up the whole flow of the website. Please contact any of the SMFFQCC if you have questions about this so we can all be clear and on the same page.
I am reposting this because it is once again becoming a big problem with all the incoming submissions. So this is a reminder for all you that have been here forever and a notice for all you new authors coming in.

Podcasts on pause.
Hi guys, I know a lot of you look forward to the weekly Podcast. However, the sites will be moved to a new server. During the move, the Podcasts and SMRC will be put on hold until the transaction is completed.
We will keep you posted about the moving process, which we estimate to be within the next two weeks. Also, new submissions and registration will be closed during the move (Bunny will inform you when). However, as of now, all new submissions and registrations are still accepted!

ASMR Death - ASMR Refugees
I just heard through the grapevine that ASMR is officially gone for good. I'm sure there are a lot of you who are already members here or just made your way over here as an ASMR refugee that are very upset and troubled about this.
My condolences go out to all of you in grieving. As a fan that has lost sites much beloved in the past, I can appreciate how you may be feeling about this.
I'm not trying to take the place of ASMR by any means - we truly are a totally different animal here, but we are lovers and supporters of the same fandom, so I want to show my care and concern in the only way I'm able to as a SM fanfic archive webmaster. Welcome you here if you've made your way over here - and take a moment to reassure you of a few things about SMFF.net:
1. This website isn't going anywhere. We have been online since 2000 and there is a full staff here to support you. Should I at sometime be unable to maintain this site, I won't just shut it down I will pass it on. If something ever happened to me, the other two admins Aisuru-chan and Kaiou have server access and would be able to take over and/or pass the site on.
2. This website is backed up regularly. You can post here with the confidence that I'm not going to have a server failure that I won't be able to recover from. I can easily recreate this whole site with all the users, stories, reviews, et cetera from scratch if need be on a fresh web host because I'm just psycho like that. (I have it backed up in multiple places because I'm obsessive-compulsive about these things as well.)
3. I think you will enjoy this site. It's very user friendly and active. We run a lot of interactive contests and challenges and such. We have a long standing forums community, we run a podcast, we offer beta services, we host seasonal and drabbles challenges, and we run the SMRC to name a few things. This is a site that gives you the power to sign up and do it yourself, but there is a full staff here to support you, protect you and help you if you have any questions, concerns, and/or problems. We listen to your suggestions and we do our best to help everybody have a good time.
So anyways...I know I can't bring back ASMR for those of you who just lost your Sailor Moon fanfiction archive love, but at least I can assure you that if you trust us to take you in and take care of you that you don't have to worry about what happened with ASMR happening to you again with this site. And for those of you that have been here for ages - fear not, we are not going to suddenly die on you. ^_^

SMFanFiction.net Podcast 17, 18, 19 & Updates
Alright where to start?
This last month was a bit of a nightmare for us podcasters. We had a few personal crises, technical difficulties extraordinaire, and of course, to top it all off I went away on an anniversary cruise. Needless to say, the podcast had a big hicup and we are recovering from it.
As such...it is my joy to inform you that podcasts 17 & 18 are now posted up for your listening pleasure here on the site, on the podcast feed and on iTunes.
I will be recording a quickie for 19 sometime this week and posting it up ASAP. Stay tuned here for updates on that.
Disregard the current schedule as it has been completely obliterated and we are in the process of reconstrucing it. I, or one of the other podcasters will keep you all posted on the status on that.
We are re-opening applications for podcasters, if any of you are interested, you can find out how to apply on the site forums under the SMFanFiction.net Q & A section. Before applying, please be prepared to commit yourself to recording at least 45 minutes to an hour of a podcast once a month.
I fixed the broken formatting link A-chan posted up about and I think that covers the bulk of what we're dealing with at the moment.
Contact us if you have questions on anything, or leave a comment here.
